Syed Emad Uddin Shubha

Ph.D. Researcher in Quantum Information & Security • Louisiana State University

I am a Computer Science Ph.D. researcher and the founding doctoral student in Dr. Tasnuva Farheen's group at Louisiana State University, recipient of the 2026 Quantum Rising Star Award at Rice University (QS3). My research bridges physical superconducting processor hardware and quantum information theory across two core directions: (1) Quantum Hardware Security & Pulse Control and (2) Quantum Communication & Error Correction. My research also focuses on quantum characterization, verification, and validation (QCVV) and the analysis of non-classical correlations from an information-theoretic perspective.

Quantum Hardware Security, Pulse Control & QCVV

⚡ Quantum Hardware Security & Pulse Control 📊 QCVV 🔬 Multi-Tenant Superconducting Qubits ⚛️ Quantum Algorithms
🏛️ Supported by Louisiana Board of Regents (BoR, Proposal no. 033A-26)

Investigating how adversarial pulses exploit interqubit coupling to induce logical errors in shared superconducting quantum processors. My work combines pulse-level simulation, quantum process tomography, and isometry-based circuit extraction to reconstruct induced error channels and characterize an asymmetric crosstalk attack mechanism. I also develop methods for quantum characterization, verification, and validation (QCVV) using residual Pauli transfer matrices, including calibrated detection of weak coherent two-qubit crosstalk versus local calibration drift at matched average gate infidelity.

  • Pulse-level simulation of crosstalk attacks and pulse-to-circuit characterization of their induced error channels [C4, C5].
  • Multiqubit pulse calibration, including Rabi calibration and echoed cross-resonance gates, alongside open-system dynamics and process characterization.
  • Published at IEEE QCE 2025 [C4] and ACM QSec 2025 [C5]; accepted at IEEE HOST 2027 [C7].

Quantum Communication, Correlations & Error Correction

🌐 Quantum Communication ✨ Non-Classical Correlations 🛡️ Quantum Error Correction 🔐 Quantum Cryptography (QKD)
🏛️ Supported by NSF EAGER (Award no. 2608182)

Developing quantum communication protocols using entanglement, quantum error correction, and information-theoretic measures of quantum correlations. My work includes improving the fidelity of encoded Bell pairs, designing an adaptive superdense-coding testbed, and probabilistic teleportation of repetition-encoded logical states through partially entangled GHZ channels using optimal positive operator-valued measurements (POVMs). Current research investigates how quantum discord and entanglement of formation can guide pair-preserving recovery and message decoding when joint operations on the received qubit pair are available.

  • Error correction for encoded Bell pairs [J1], adaptive superdense coding [C6], and POVM-based teleportation of encoded logical states [J4].
  • Published in Heliyon 2023 [J1, first author], AVS Quantum Science 2025 [J4, corresponding author], and IEEE QCE 2025 [C6].
  • Co-supervised research on surface-code ensemble decoding [C3] and quantum key distribution integrated with classical cryptography and steganography [J2, J3].
